Later this year, I will be heading to the CYA conference for writers and illustrators of children's and young adult fiction (and adult fiction too). It's an online event every weekend for the whole month, with a great line-up of workshops and masterclasses on everything from character to creativity. Hopefully, I'll get to (virtually) meet some new writers and other bookish folk as well!
I am particularly excited to also be one of the many involved in judging entries for the CYA competitions. I am looking forward to reading other people's works-in-progress and the chance to discover something new and wonderful the rest of the world hasn't read yet. Critiquing other people's work also gives me the opportunity to revisit the mechanics and magic of writing and think about my own storytelling a little more deeply. And most of all, I will enjoy being able to give a little something back to the writing community.
